one way to maintain backwards compatibility might be to add optional
socket info on the fourth (= dst) line.  syntax of fourth line is now

dst | .

and it could become

dst [. socket] | . [ socket]

lets put this on the to-do list for the next release.  i have also other
things in mind, but we can discuss those after the current release is
out.
