Hello,
I tried a lot to install RTPEngine on RHEL 8.x and as well as in Rocky Linux 8.x also using different sources. But, I am facing a lot of issues like libraries issues, dependencies issues, conflict issues etc. Anyone successfully installed RTPEngine on RHEL 8.x or Rocky Linux 8.x (Not on CentOS)? If so, could you please share the documentation step-by-step or web URL? Thanks in advance.
Best regards, Chandramouli.
It would be hard to share a step-by-step guide as I don't have one handy and it would be labourious to set up a fresh host for the express purpose of writing one for you, but I do this routinely on EL8 and Rocky 8, and have done so dozens of times.
Tips:
- You will need EPEL.
- You will need the CBR repository or whatever has replaced PowerTools in Rocky 8.
Otherwise, it's just installing the dependencies until you get there.

Looks like you're trying to build the master branch I use https://github.com/sipwise/rtpengine/commits/mr12.4 branch on CentOS 8 Probably this should also work for Rocky 8 After you compile this branch, you can build for a more recent branch.

Tips:
You will need EPEL.
You will need the CBR repository or whatever has replaced PowerTools in
Rocky 8.
Otherwise, it's just installing the dependencies until you get there.

Hello Richard and Sergey,
Good morning and thank you very much for your guidance and help. It seems that my issue is resolved. I am able to compile the kernel module and xt_RTPENGINE.ko file is also created and able to successfully load this module at the boot time. But, I am unable to compile and install the iptables extension. For this, I need to follow the below steps:
cd rtpengine/iptables-extension
make all
cp -fr libxt_RTPENGINE.so /usr/lib64/xtables/.
*Problem:* I wasn't able to find the "iptables-extension" folder in my rtpengine source folder. So, it is giving below error:
[root@rtpengine ~]# systemctl status rtpengine.service

Please advise me to move forward and thank you in advance.

Probably the kernel's nftables module isn't loaded or something. See if loading `nf_tables` makes a difference. Perhaps there are some distro-specific packages you need to install to get nftables support going.

Hello Sergey,
Good morning and thank you for your reply. As you suggested, I compiled with different options and no luck. But, what I believe is, I am missing something here. As you said (need to update SPEC file and add options "-fPIE" got compiles (gcc) and "-pie" for linker), could you please tell me which file I need to update and compile commands?
Please find the below commands that I executed:
make -fPIE and then make -pie
make -fPIE -pie
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards, Chandramouli.

In log present
/usr/bin/ld: dynamic STT_GNU_IFUNC symbol `s16_mix_in.lto_priv.222' with
pointer equality in `/tmp/cc3IdiIR.ltrans2.ltrans.o' can not be used when making an executable; recompile with -fPIE and relink with -pie
Important here recompile with -fPIE and relink with -pie
For you dist need to update SPEC file and add options "-fPIE" got compiles (gcc) and "-pie" for linker.

Looks like you're trying to build the master branch I use https://github.com/sipwise/rtpengine/commits/mr12.4 branch on CentOS 8 Probably this should also work for Rocky 8 After you compile this branch, you can build for a more recent branch.

It would be hard to share a step-by-step guide as I don't have one handy and it would be labourious to set up a fresh host for the express purpose of writing one for you, but I do this routinely on EL8 and Rocky 8, and have done so dozens of times.
Tips:
You will need EPEL.
You will need the CBR repository or whatever has replaced PowerTools in
Rocky 8.
Otherwise, it's just installing the dependencies until you get there.

Hello,
I tried a lot to install RTPEngine on RHEL 8.x and as well as in Rocky
Linux 8.x also using different sources.
