I'm looking to upgrade a system from 4.0 to 4.3 I see the various upgrade docs https://www.kamailio.org/wiki/install/upgrade/4.0.x-to-4.1.0 https://www.kamailio.org/wiki/install/upgrade/4.1.x-to-4.2.0 https://www.kamailio.org/wiki/install/upgrade/4.2.x-to-4.3.0 If the updates are completed as shown in the docs, can I jump directly to 4.3? Anything to look out for? Thanks! -dan
Hello, yes, you can go directly fro 4.0 to 4.3. Just be sure the database tables you use have the structure like in 4.3 and their version number is updated as well in the database table version. Then check to see if some parameters/functions need to be updated in kamailio.cfg, then you are all set. Many times it happens that I have to jump over many version with upgrade and it just works by installing the new kamailio version binaries and restart (e.g., edge proxies which don't rely much on database interaction). Ok great. In the version table, do I just increment the version for any table structures that get an update? Yep. Just be sure to increment to the table version 4.3 expects, which may be a jump of more than 1. Look to Kamailio error log output on startup to guide you. -- Alex Balashov | Principal | Evariste Systems LLC 303 Perimeter Center North, Suite 300 Atlanta, GA 30346 United States Tel: +1-800-250-5920 (toll-free) / +1-678-954-0671 (direct) Web: http://www.evaristesys.com/, http://www.csrpswitch.com/ Sent from my BlackBerry.
Ok, perfect. One last question, I have done this in the past but it's been long enough that it slipped my mind. Do I need to remove current files and do make/make install on the new source or what is the proper way to jump versions?
