Ser wants to know the name of 192.168.1.17 and you don't have it in your /etc/hosts file
Add a line to /etc/hosts
192.168.1.17 my.hostname.here

This is usually an indication that there was an error in
the ser.cfg file. If you look in the system messages log
(/var/log/messages), it should give you more specific information about
which error occurred.
