Kamailio works properly in the container, that's not actually my problem.
My issue comes from Kamailio trying to send commands to rtpengine.
RTPEngine is running in a container. From what i see, kamailio first sends a ping to RTPEngine before sending any commands, until then it is considered "down".
I can see the ping going to the rtpengine host. I can see the ping arriving at the rtpengine host, i can see the coming IN the rtpengine container. But for some reason i haven't yet been able to figure out, no reply is sent out.

I hope i described my situation properly.

not sure if I understand your question correctly. Running Kamailio inside docker was discussed a few times on the list, you should be able to find it with google. About Kamailio cfg options - the kamailio binary has a build-in help to print all the available options.
