Have you really updated the passwords for ser user??
mysql> UPDATE mysql.user SET Password = OLD_PASSWORD('newpwd
')
-> WHERE Host = 'some_host' AND User = 'some_user';
mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
I faced this problem and I solved it using OLD_PASSWORD....
