I'll enable the fifo socket and wait until it re-appears. 

If you got all stats, then you can execute any rpc command, you shouldn't need anything else, just use the same tool.

We pull stats over tcp from the jsonrpc using “stats.fetch all" and they give the same results.

But have you tried get the the result for "shm.stats"? Because internally stats.fetch and get_statistics use same approach, while shm.stats is implemented separately. I try to figure out if it is a proble, with the values computed internally or how they are passed to the result.
