Hi Greger,

 

Thanks for the tip.  I'm using Solaris 10 and whatever Ser version it's bundled with, everything came preinstalled.  I went to /var/log, but there's no messages folder, all I have a syslog.# files.  How can I find out where the log messages are kept, if there are any at all?  Is that something I can set in the ser.cfg file?

Ben,
the cat error just tells you that ser didn't start. Find the command in your ser service script that actually starts ser and start it manually. You may also add -E -D -D -D -D -D
to get lots of debug info to stderr (or just look in your /var/log/messages)
